Motorola Edge 30 Fusion: Analysis and Review

I tell you my opinion of the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion in this analysis after having used the mobile as my main terminal for the last week. The spoiler is that it is one of the best high-end mobiles of this 2022.

The new Motorola is doing well, very well. After a kind of ordeal in the desert caused by the very high competition from Xiaomi and, more recently, Realme, Motorola has returned with terminals that are not only interesting but also have attractive prices.

Although in 2021 they launched interesting models, it has been this 2022 with the Edge 30 family with which they have once again stood out and become a fixture in the rankings of the best mobiles in their respective price segments.

The Edge 30 seemed like a very balanced mobile to us, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro was one of the first to mount the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and, for this second half of the year, they had three cards ready to continue completing the family.

We’ve already reviewed the Motorola Edge 30 Neo, we’re thoroughly testing the Edge 30 Ultra, and here’s my take on the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, the middle sibling of the latest releases.

The first thing is to review the technical characteristics of the Edge 30 Fusion. I think its name is quite descriptive because it is a mobile that takes the best of the one just above it (the Ultra) and the one below it (the Neo).

Thus, it is a mobile with power (not as much as the Ultra with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1), but also with a lightweight design to make it very comfortable in the hand (like the Neo).

There are things that it lacks, such as wireless charging, which would have been a great addition, and perhaps a set of cameras that would do without the depth camera that we already know is worth little.

However, I will talk about all of this below.

A design well above its price

Something that Motorola is taking great care of is the design and its latest terminals seem to me to be one of the most attractive of the year. The Neo is the most “playful” with all that Pantone color palette, but both the Fusion and the Ultra are also very careful.

In the case of the Fusion, we have aluminum frames with a flat finish and a textured glass back. It is very difficult for it to get dirty with the grease from your fingers and the touch is great since it is silky and very pleasant.

However, more than the finish, what I like the most is what surprises you the first time you pick it up. It weighs only 175 grams and the thickness is 7.5 millimeters, so it is thin, it weighs like a compact even though the materials are premium. Even with the cover that comes in the box, it’s not bulky.

Also, I think they are tastefully designed with a camera module that yes, stands out, but it is not oversized, with a very elegant brand logo on the front and with the name of the brand, with a glossy finish, on the bottom.

Another thing that I liked to find is that there is a change in the location of the buttons. I have been very heavy in this aspect in the last analysis that I made of a Motorola, but it is that they had the assistant button (which was not worth much), the lock button, and the volume button very far from the reach of the thumb.

In this model, they eliminated the assistant and lowered the rest of the buttons a bit. In addition, the lock has a rough texture to facilitate its use and, in the end, they are details that are quite good.
