Analysis of the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16

There are a lot of premium laptops on the market, but when I think of the most iconic ones, the first three that come to mind are the Dell XPS – the 9310 seemed spectacular to us -, the MacBook – MacBook Pro 14” review – and the ThinkPads.

Lenovo introduced the Z16 at the beginning of this year, but recently they have launched the new generation of this ThinkPad Z16 that has OLED touch screens with 4K resolution, a spectacular design, and the latest from AMD.

ThinkPad was synonymous with an alliance with Intel, but in this new generation we have the most powerful AMD processors and graphics in laptops , as well as other tricks up our sleeves thanks to Qualcomm.

After three weeks using this computer to work, but also to watch a lot of series, I’ll tell you my opinion of the ThinkPad Z16 .

Premium finish and one size does not fit all backpacks

ThinkPad laptops are recognized at a glance both by the huge logo with the name -obviously- and by some little details that these models have maintained throughout their history (and that companies like Dynabook, formerly Toshiba, are adopting).

Something that I loved are the materials. Lenovo says that it is aluminum and recycled plastic and, regardless of the correct environmental decision, the truth is that the touch seems very premium touches in the part where you touch. The Most Valued Acer Aspire Rygar Enterprises

Fingerprints are not easily left on the lid, where we find the Lenovo logo and the name ThinkPad with the classic dot of the “i” that lights up in red to indicate the status of the equipment.

The sides are made of aluminum and in them we have the antennas (because yes, apart from Wi- Fi , this model has an LTE connection, as if it were a mobile), we have a camera module that is given a lot of importance and that allows the laptop to be opened with one hand and… the ports.

Although I already said that I love the design because it is modern and elegant, I have to tell you that I don’t quite understand the decision to choose ports on a 16” laptop focused on productivity.

We have 2 USB-C 4 on the left side -which we can use to charge the equipment-, an SD card reader on that same side and, on the other, the SIM tray, a USB-C 3.2, the K system -Slot -the Kensington-, the power button and the headphone jack.

I miss not only a USB-A, but also an HDMI . In other types of laptops, especially those focused on mobility, it is not something that I blame, but it weighs almost 2 kilos, has a width of 355 millimeters and is not the most comfortable laptop for mobile work.
